La Madre Amazonas a project developed in the heart of the Amazon jungle. This was an experimental new piece, exploring new techniques and a way to display the focus of Janine’s conceptual ideas.

Experiencing the space of the jungle to take it as a reference to reflect into this new body of work. Seeing the dynamic of the Jungle, the space between spaces, the forms, the way the jungle lives, moves and breathes is the focus of this project. A new perspective and way to see what we experience.

Janine spent the duration of a month in the jungle to take the time to become aquatint with the space, to learn more in depth about what she was experiencing on a sensory and visual level. To take all the elements to focus on how her direct experience of nature can be reflected into the artwork and reveal itself to her through the process.

This project shows us the vibrant energy in the jungle, the different pace of time, the movement in the body of this fortress of nature where things are constantly changing, growing, living and dying. An embodiment of the cycle of life in such a dense space.
